Every time I look in someone’s eyes

I hope I can see your sparkle.

They say right person wrong time,

But if you were the right person,

The time would let you be mine.

Instead I say,

Your the one that got away...

It consumes me like a forest engulfed in flames,

Nothing can tame the raging fire within my heart.

Because when I say those words I took part

In a pact with you to light that match and toss it to the forest.

And though the rain may wash away the burning flames,

The charred remains stay until they make way for a new forest....

Suddenly the light hits my eyes,

I was protecting all the lies.

Cause if you were truly my friend

I wouldn’t have to pretend

That every time you talked to me

I didn’t want to scream at thee....
