just an outlier

Edgaress Allan Poe (Blake)

She holds my hand

Our fingers intertwine

Like there’s no other place

For them to find their home

She lets our matching bracelets clink together

My rings dig slightly into her fingers

She doesn’t seem to mind

She never seems to mind

She calls me baby

Her voice is a murmur

When she urges me to rest

And tells me to lie down

She wraps her arm around me

As I drift to sleep

Cuddled up against her sid...

live to prove them wrong

Edgaress Allan Poe (Blake)

she said kill yourself, i said

i tried.

she said you’re a whore, i said

i know.

she said you look wretched, i said

i see.

my knife is dull.

he said you’re too fat, i said

i’m starving.

he said try being nice, i said

fuck off.

they said think smarter, i said

the clock on my wall

pitch black

throwing up

scared

don’t cut.

the moon

wait for morning

close your eyes

pitying smiles

anguish

lights off

violent shaking

empty

tears down cheeks

I Know Why The Caged Bird Cries

Edgaress Allan Poe (Blake)

1 min read

A free bird leaps

from thick branch to thin branch

and never stills

lest he be trapped

running from his future

straight into open sky.

But a bird that stalks

on the dewy grass

prefers the safety

of the land mass

his wings aren’t clipped and

his feet aren’t tied

but he refuses to take wing.

The caged bird sings

on the solid ground

of his great fear

without a sound

so his tune’s not heard

and the...

some things are just meant to die

many a winter

come and go

many a kingdom

decimated beside me

many a tree

centuries old

finally burn

once again

fluttering in the wind

green leaves

black ashes

settle at my base

even the night sky

has changed

drastically in my lifetime

from barefooted philosophers

to Nike sneaker influencers

an endless loop

sun down

moon up

moon down

over and over

Hellish Heart

Edgaress Allan Poe (Blake)

1 min read

My demons come to haunt me,

they inhabit my frail heart.

My pain like an exhibit,

that they all fundraised to start.

It’s dead in here, they lament,

as they shiver in the dark.

Hell freezes over in

my lonely broken heart....

If If If When

Edgaress Allan Poe (Blake)

Promise me you won’t laugh at me

If I tell you I like pink

Promise me you won’t laugh at me

If I tell you I’m a nerd

Promise me you won’t laugh at me

If I tell you the way my mind thinks

Promise me you won’t laugh at me

If I tell you every single thing I fear

Promise me you won’t laugh at me

If I tell you how much sleep I’ve lost

Promise me you won’t laugh at me

If I tell you how many demons ...

lonely girl

Edgaress Allan Poe (Blake)

1 min read

i often use the moon when i write

i always personify her as she

sometimes just a friend or guardian

sometimes she represents me

the blood moon matches my heart

as it bleeds in that red hue

i reach my hand out to the sky

look, it matches my wrist too

we block the moon from the sun’s glow

is it a break from suffocation?

it’s too bad we’ll never know

if she lives in eternal damnation

the moon is ...

mind over matter

Edgaress Allan Poe (Blake)

1 min read

i talk to myself sometimes

like i talk to the moon,

talk to my heart through confines

wondering if my time will be soon

my brain doesn’t like me,

so it screams in my head

at things i can’t see

about things i now dread

it screams at my soul

and asks why it’s so dark

those screams take a toll

on my poor locked up heart

it screams at my wrists

and asks why they’re not red

it screams at my fists

It’s You

The most beautiful person I know cries into their pillow every night, scared to make so much as a peep, fearing someone might finally hear or see their pain.
