Lonely

Cressen

1 min read

“Do you think the sun gets lonely up there?”

His eyes sparkled as he gazed at the sky.

I didn’t turn to look.

“You’re going to go blind,” I responded without thinking too much.

I could hear him sigh and his head slowly fell back towards the ground.

“What about the moon?” He asked that night, his eyes bathed in its light.

“You’re going to trip if you keep looking up.”

Again, he sighed ...

Broken Beats

Cressen

1 min read

She turns away slowly as he watches. Something tugs in her chest but she chases the thought away. “No, no.” She whispers, “it will only hurt more if I think about it.”

She can’t help but imagine him still standing there, watching her go. “No,” She chastises herself again, “you can’t look back… not anymore.”

Holding her chest tightly, she walks away. One might even think her heart is broken, yet...

Haters

People who have a strong dislike of someone or something.

Hearts

The organ we all have in our chests.

Earth (s)

The planet we all live on.

Whether we like it or not, haters have hearts. They pump blood, they live, they cry.

Just like you.

Here on Earth, we all have hearts

Even if they don’t work how we want them too.

We also have haters here on earth.

But that’s ok...

Dying Embers

Cressen

1 min read

Maybe I only liked your eyes because they were the only ones I ever had the courage to look at.

Maybe it’s because, at the end of the day, the eyes really are the windows to the soul.

And I saw all of hell’s fiery inferno in them.

Eyes like the dying embers of a fire

Alight with mischief and trouble.

And yet

For some reason

I stayed.

Despite the fire

Despite the heat

Despite the dying em...

Peace!

(In the context of death…)

Peace, peace, oh joyful peace!

Rest that weary head

Smile in your sleep

Oh, such joyful peace!

Struggle no longer

You’re done

Congrats, you’ve reached the end!

Oh, taste the peace!

Sleep now

Your worries are gone

You can finally stop

Finally know the meaning of

Rest in peace....

Sorrowful Eyes

Cressen

1 min read

Her eyes are beautiful

They embody a star

And they beam when she smiles.

But there’s a lamentation there as well.

My love, why do you cry?

What is that veiled sadness you are trying to hide?

Her eyes are sorrowful

They speak of dying stars

And light long gone....

Lost Colors

My steps fall silently against the hard stone and my feet ache from the miles of walking. Murmurs can be heard from all around as lethargic townspeople go about their daily chores.

Glancing upwards, I lick my parched lips and peer through the low fog. The air is heavy with sadness and grief to the point where it’s almost tangible.

War does that to people. It warps beautiful places until they’r...

UFO Intern

Icy winds are nothing unusual around here, what is unusual, however, are frozen unidentified flying objects that have been around for who knows how long.

I’m probably not meant to see this. I shouldn’t be allowed to see this. Yes, that’s it, Area 51 will come and wipe our memories and then this will all be over. Except… they haven’t come yet. And my intern job has suddenly become very interestin...

Find X

Cressen

1 min read

‘Find x’ it says.

Who is this x?

Perhaps a hero?

And why is he missing?

What happened? What’s his story?

And why must I find him?

So many questions and really not enough time.

Ah, there goes the bell

I suppose x will have to remain unfound....

No Lies

“No.” He mumbles again, his heart aching at the lie. He watches her as she speaks, her eyes sparkling as she converses with him. He gulps as he opens his mouth, “H-hey-“

“Oh! We’ll have to start packing tonight as well if we want to catch the flight.” She shuffles around the room, oblivious to his hesitation.

He sighs, giving up for the time being, “r-right.”

She finally pauses and approaches ...
