Hi, I’m doing creative writing because it’s something I have admired of others’ for a long while. I hope that, if you have time, you leave feedback (of any kind) on my work. I appreciate it :) p.s my old pieces are a little bit trash- just saying

If You Find Yourself In These Woods

Merky

1 min read

If the floor beneath you starts to click under the weight of your striking feet, you may need to slow down, to look around.

The deep, dark blue is relentless, it swallows limbs whole and isolates the mind. It speaks the language of averted eyes.

When you come to be at the bottom of pit, gazing before it’s illuminated escape, think only of the trap you are in, of how the woods have every advanta...

Cursed Outing

Merky

“Unbelievable…” Elena hissed sourly into the murky black, shaking her flashlight violently as if to jumpstart its feeble glow into something of a… not so broken flashlight.

The light sputtered for a long moment, finally blacking out completely, a moment that triggered a series of exhaled tight breaths.

“Great”, Jonah sneered, although the relief in his voice came out all but subtle.

“So let’s c...

May Fourth, Journey In The Sun

Merky

1 min read

Blistering burns, wistful warmth

Jagged cuts are a fierce adventurer’s scars

Journey in the sun, May fourth

Projector on a tree stump, under the stars

Flip the pages of my book,

Can’t shake the feeling of running

steady breaths anchor my crook-

ed lies that I despise, of longing....

There’s A Bully Out There

Merky

A solid hit to the jaw

Several painful kicks I’m sure

Hands like hammers on her head

Red and blue lights and blood, she’s dead.

Troubled teens whip out their phones

Harsh winds disturb the pile of bones

bully with murderous intent

Tears spill, a summer ill spent

They say that it is all okay

But I play crippled anyway

I could have pulled a bully back

Stopped her light bleeding into black.

My fat...

Hi, It’s Me Again

Merky

Her hair hung in an oily brown bob over her slouched shoulders. Her fake nails felt years old, they pulled at her real ones and caused her great pain everyday. Her smile was flat, almost non-existent. A pair of glasses clung to the bridge of her nose in a rather unflattering way. She had her hands stuffed into oversized open-leg jeans.

That’s when she saw her.

Her hair fell in a neat coffee brow...

Radio Rarity

“It’s a radio, get over it.” Esme hissed affectionately, crafting a cloud of breath in her palms. “It’s not just a radio.” It gave me nostalgia- somehow. She exaggerated a scoff, shoving me into a shoe-shaped hedge. When I caught up to her, I had a head full of green, and I knew she would laugh about it for the rest of the week.

Now, I sat propped up against my royal blue, buttoned headboard, fi...

A stone sat heavy in my chest. It rose and fell with every shaky breath. ‘Breathe’ I told myself slowly.

“When you’re ready.” A voice that wasn’t mine whispered. “When I-”, my voice cracked. “When I look in the mirror”, I licked my dry lips, “I see-“

“Turn around already!” A harsh voice shouted from the moss shadow.

I considered them, I did. I just didn’t really care to listen.

“Shhh! You’ll mak...

Surface Paradise

Cold air rushed into my lungs, they expanded, my cancer-less hot air balloon. The city had its usual silent business about it. Sleek white cars sped past us in our glass tubes. Hooded figures slunk through the square, VR headsets strapped on tight, a filter for reality.

Lifts whirred past quietly, skyrocketing upward through the plentiful levels of the sky tower. A pair of slim heels echoed in t...

Big Fish

Merky

1 min read

It was the size of my dad. The colour of my lunch orange, flecked with crimson. Two large glassy eyes stared blankly at me.

It was the most magnificent thing I’d ever seen since Roald Dahl’s giant peach. Small silver fish darted beneath its great big belly, I couldn’t even see their eyes! I wiped my runny nose with a stripy sleeve, inspecting the brilliant hues in the fish tank that begged my at...
