WRITING OBSTACLE

Write a horror story in the style of a Dr. Seuss book.
The Man in the Van
The man in the van
Drives as quietly as he can
Watching children play
On a warm summer day
The children play happily
Bouncing along
With their red rubber balls
And singing a song
Oh this, this is bliss!
The children smile
But someone is watching
All the while
The man in the van
With his mustache and glasses
Watches the children
All bunched in their masses
Looking for one, alone in the crowd
One who looks like they won't scream too loud
A blond little girl, about the age of seven
Having this girl, he thought, would be like Heaven
The man in the van
Drives around the block
As he approaches the girl
His doors unlock
He rolls down his window
"Well hello there, little girl!
Would you like a ride home?
We can go for a whirl!"
"Stranger danger!" She yells
And she starts to run
But the man in the van
Pulls out a gun
"Get in the car, now, before you get killed"
But she kept on running, she was very strong-willed!
The man in the van
Of course, had a plan
He was bigger and faster
And he also ran
Snatch! Catch!
The girl had no choice
She was grabbed by her hair
And a rag stopped her voice
The girl kicked at the man
Kicked, screamed, and fought
But hard as she tried
It was all for naught
The man in the van drove away from the park
For minutes? Hours? The sky was now dark
He drove into a field and took her out
Told her he'd kill her mommy if she were to shout
The man in the van
Got his way on this night
And took the girl's life
Though she put up a fight
He sliced her! Diced her!
And cut out her eyes!
When the cops find her body
Oh, what a surprise!
The man in the van
Then went home to his wife
And his children who knew nothing
Of his sick double life
That girl wasn't his first and won't be his last
And if his family found out, they would all be aghast
So the man in the van put on a mask
Of the loving husband and father, a tiring task!
The worst part of this story?
Is not what you'd think
It's how many of these men
Are the same, and don't blink
They're your colleagues, your bosses,
Your family or friends
How many lives
Have they brought to their ends?
Dark wants, desires
Secrets and lies
You never really know anyone,
You should realize
Never say never
Because you never really know
How many "man in the van"s
You pass anywhere you go
