STORY STARTER
Submitted by Katelyn Jane
A life force from another planet has just translated the first piece of human writing. Write a story about what they discovered.
What's on that paper?
Space is silent. It always has been. I know life forms beyond me exist, but we can't communicate with each other. It leaves everyone confused deeply.
My mission from my boss was to explore a new planet that has been established. I'm excited to see what it's like. Does everyone look the same, or am I an unconventional individual? We've been scared to take a step on a green planet when we have no useful information about it. My friend bets it's deadly with green gas formed around it.
I sigh softly against the purple control panel. What are these feelings? They're abnormal. Azeons don't feel these emotions. So why am I feeling them? Have I always been different?
"Weul! Hurry on, we've surfaced." Qenun shouts at me, awaking me from my trapped thoughts. I rush off the low chair to the entrance, where everyone stands. No one is daring to make a peep. We've never done this before, and it could be our last. Our last mission. My first and last mission.
The door floats to the ground with a soft slam. My eyes gawk at the ground, it's green? I gradually place my foot down to feel the spiky plant. It itches against my bare foot, tickling me and daring me to leave its homeland.
"Hey, there's nothing to worry about! Let's go to that huge building over there." I press my lips together as I follow the others ahead of me. They know what they're doing, not me. Chatter is what fills my ears, not silence. It's unsettling.
Secretly, I pace myself away from them into an unilluminated room. Wind falls above me, making my skin ache at the touch. Ew. What is this place? Do people live here on a daily basis?
An unknown item falls on top of my head and onto my hands. Its qualities are smooth and torrid. I can't read what it says, the blur makes my head ache with nausea. I need to bring this back to the others now.
I rush out of the room and turn my head in every direction. Everything is black. Did everyone leave without me? I knock on the piece blocking the entrance to the room. I look down at the paper to find out what it says. "What's k-kidnap?" I ask myself before lifting my head.
A large boy meets me with a death glare, and all of a sudden, everything goes black again. For the last time.
