Writing Prompt: May 25 - "Write a poem that has a whimsical mood."
[I really dislike this one... I like the imagery I had in my head with each situation, but I feel like I sucked at getting it to come across in a poem format. The important thing is that it's written. Writing something I dislike is better than not writing anything at all!]
A cat wears people-eye liner
A gator wears Karen-skin boots
A delicate touch from a trunk
plays a tune on enamel tooth keys.
The dog walks his person and ties up their turds
The cow wonders why milk supply dropped
The stallions pay thousands for the 3 year old races
where winners gain clout for breeding rights.
Peacocks take strolls in bars
and comment on mating rituals
Such flamboyant colors! They say,
That male must be quite the catch.
Little do they know.
Ants gather round and peer into skyscrapers
How industrious these beings are.
The hum of the bees wonders why
we put our honey into porcelain pots
The praying mantis lobbies for feminism
The lions and giraffes safari in Compton
Be Mindful, don't get too close to the gangsters.
The young ones are especially aggressive when they're establishing their territories.
The songbirds tour Nashville, Atlanta, and Harlem
It's a relaxing hobby, peopling.
More animals should do it.
