I'd compare myself

to a diamond

in all its glory

not because it is beautiful

but because it is strong.

these glistening gems

appear fragile,

and may seem

like they would shatter

with a single touch

but really

they can withstand

far more

than anyone

gives them credit for.

when you look

at the surface of a diamond

you can't tell

what it's been through,

there's no tell

that it may have

gone through hell itself

and come out

the other side,

it just simply is.
