One chilly night during their travels, with no inn around, Huo Linghun made a fire to keep them warm. Starting a fire was an important survival skill that he had learned long ago and it was very useful in all his travels.

It was not something Xiao Xin had ever had the chance to learn. Today it was Huo Linghun's turn to ask a question. "When you were in the crater," he began, "how did you stay warm when it got cold?"

Xiao Xin's reply came in the form of a demonstration. He curled up on the ground and wrapped his fluffy tail all around himself. "Like this," he said, smiling up at Huo Linghun.

Huo Linghun smiled back at him. "I hope it worked well."

Xiao Xin stood back up. He gave a small shrug and said, "I survived."

Later on the night got deeper and colder. Huo Linghun woke up shivering despite the fire, unconsciously inching closer to Xiao Xin. He must have woken him up too because a moment later Xiao Xin's soft tail draped over his body. Huo Linghun gently pet his long fur, his shivering subsiding. "It is warm..." he murmured before drifting back off to sleep.
