POEM STARTER

The Burden of Memory
Write a poem that could have this as its title.
The Burden of Memory
The same thoughts reappear every time.
The smile that widened on his face after seeing my own.
He always seemed so glad to see me.
I knew his intentions were never malicious.
Despite that, I couldn't help but ponder.
DId he ever find us weird?
I lied to his face repeatedly.
He always accepted it as fact.
The Burden of that Memory.
One that I carried like a turtle and its shell.
It was stuck on my back.
The thought of it oddly sticks around.
Anytime I shut my eyes tight
The image of him seemed to stare back at me.
What a clingy man he was-
Always wanting to stay by my side.
The night I had blocked him on everything I knew,
His face remained it my head.
It stayed in my head like my blood vessels.
