The wizard had his complicated spells with strange words and gestures. The necromancer his skeletal slaves. The thief his lock picks. The paladin his blessed sword.

But I needed none of these parlor tricks. The Giant stood before us, swinging his mace, ready to finish us off in one swoop.

I held up my sling and brought the band back until it was tight. The marble gleamed. I aimed and let go.

The marble hit and embedded into his forehead. He looked at me for a moment. Then fell.

I grinned at my fellow adventurers and slid the sling back into my pack.
