WRITING OBSTACLE

In a short scene, how can your protagonist say “I won’t forget you” without literally saying the words “I won’t forget you”?

Resting

Upon the dirt they laid a rose, a light bow and a simple tear as they stepped backward still facing the stone.

They’d return every week, to lay another flower, to share a word or two about their day, about their week or about their life.

Come rain or shine, they were there, and on the days they weren’t their rose remained alone on the dirt, resting on the grave.
