POEM STARTER
Write a poem about taking a gamble.
Your interpretation can include the classic ideas associated with gambling, or something more metaphorical.
Russian Roulette
You, as skilled as I know you,
with your big black eyes,
childlike smile,
and dimples,
you’ll like this new Casino!
Round walls, covered in red,
a velvet soft as kisses,
four chambers warm,
luxuriously called
your own gambling Casino.
Me, as shy as I always was,
with fears that blind me,
sad hesitations,
and ghosts,
I’ll join the strange Casino.
You seal the doors.
I start to shiver.
You smile. Wickedly smile.
I’m trapped inside.
Russian Roulette.
Unwillingly I nod.
You pull the trigger.
I was never lucky.
My heart explodes.
You win.
