POEM STARTER
Write a poem about the first time you did something.
New experiences are often thought-provoking. Try to stay away from obvious first times and go for something unusual.
For The First Time I’m In Love
The first time I let my guard down
I didn’t know it would elicit the beginning
The most adventurous ride one could ask
But before I knew it
You had stolen my heart
Just as I thought I had nothing left
You showed me I still have so much to give
I never thought I would love again
Pain will do that to you
Make you believe you’re unworthy
Make you think you don’t deserve it
Especially when it comes from someone that held your vulnerability
Or worse still
Make you feel your heart harden
And for the first time I really believe I found my person
Chocolate diamonds for eyes
Sunshine for a smile
A voice that soothes my spirit and mind like the gentle caress of a melody
A heart of gold that’s been battered but still beats
She loves me ever so tenderly
Even though she’s afraid of being hurt
She allows me to show her each day I’m fully hers
I just want her to know real unconditional love is what she’s worth
And always has been
For the first time I’m truly in love
And I’ll do anything to protect her
She is peace, and I am safety
