The Scar
“Let’s skip the pastries, shall we? You and I both know we’re not here for small talk.”
Enoch scowled at the man. “Then what are we here for,” he said blatantly.
Lucardi grunted. “Definitely not small talk.” He slid a bulging folder across the table to Enoch.
“What is it?” Enoch raised an eyebrow. “Don’t tell me you changed your mind about it all.”
Lucardi smirked. “How did you know?”
Enoch shivered. “You told me there were no more second chances!”
Lucardi nodded calmly. “Open the file.”
Enoch hesitated with the folder but flipped it open. The thick stack of paper held sheets of bright yellow, pink, and plain white paper.
Enoch looked up from them in horror. “What have you done?”
Lucardi’s face folded into a menacing smile. “I’m not stupid, you know?”
Enoch shook his head and pointed a thick finger at the aged man. “You…You’ve gone mad.”
“Mad?” Lucardi laughed incredulously. “Right you are.” He shifted in his chair, revealing a sharp scar across his old face.
It stared at the left side of his forehead, stretched to his left eye, and landed at his right cheek. “I’ve gone mad, all because if you.”
