POEM STARTER

Confession.

Write a poem, with a set structure, which centres around the theme of confession.

How Should I Start…?

If only you knew how much I think about you.

I mean it—you’re on my mind every hour of the day.

How is it that you have me so wrapped around your hands,

Just with your gentle stares, your laughter, your silence…

Even your unspoken conversations?

I don’t communicate well through a phone or text—

But believe me, I scream, I kick my feet, I jump up and down

Whenever I see your name light up on my screen.

The truth is, I really want to see you.

I miss your presence—because it’s always been comforting to me.

Since day one.

I crave that comfort, genuinely.

And I wish there was a way to show how we really feel

Through just words on a screen.

I don’t want you to feel like you’re chasing me.

And I don’t want to feel like I’m the only one

Trying to hold everything together.

So listen…

I’ve always loved your presence.

And no matter where I am, or what happens—

You’ll always be in my thoughts.

Etched deeply in my heart.
