The Man In The Woods
On a cold winters eve, Callie stumbled across the enchanting woods where most people made their own dreams come true. Once she was standing in front of the frozen sickles hanging from the vines she saw a figure among the trees. There wasnāt enough time for her too shout to the figure because after she stepped on a twig it bolted away. The figures seemed to be carrying some th big sharp maybe a hatchet
ābut a hatchet would be biggerā thought Callie
Maybe the figure had a dagger for hunting or a pocket knife
āYou would need at least a shot gun for hunting or a bow not a smal knife ⦠unless he planned to get close to what he wanted to killā Callie muttered to herself.

A week later Callie found herself standing back at the forest where she saw that figure something about it was alluring in a way. Callie walked over to the pond and sat down on the stone a few feet away. Callie peaked down into the water then noticed the figure behind her, Callie turned around wuickly but the figures seemed to was gone before she even looked back. In the reflection she saw hollowed out eyes and a sinister, toothy grin, the man hand his dagger raised to her back but she couldnāt remember feeling anything touching her the man had bony fingers, and white hair to go along with the stubble growing from his chin.

Once again Callie found herself back at the forest after a long day of work at the office. She peered into the forest seeing the man. He appeared to be holding the same dagger from the week before. However, Callie brought her own backup for confronting the man, she stared into the blinding light as the forest faded into the back, then she spotted the man, she started to tremble but walked towards him anyway, the man ran away but Callie wasnāt going to let him get away this time. She ran like her life depended on it to confront the man, he less her to some thorn bushes then disappeared. Callie decided maybe she could find something that ripped off him as he charged through rhe thorns. She searched each thorn bushes untill she stumbled upon a gravestone. The stone words read, Here lies Harry Grub, a fellow serial killer among our clan, as Callie read on she realized the letters read 1908- 1994 There was the mans picture laying beside the tomb Callie looked up and there she saw the man again, he raised his dagger, and Callie ran. She ran till she thought she would break her ankle but she never looked back she got in her car and drove off calling her friend Jake. They spoke about everything together, fist dates, forst kiss, even the random school gossip about who got the good slice of pizza that Friday. Despite being seniors in highschool they both still liked adventure so when Jake listened to Callieās story he was over at her apartment in an instant.
āWhat did he look like? Why was he in the forest? How could you see him if he was dead?ā Jake bombed Callie with questions.
āJake I told u already Iām not exactly sure how I saw what I did those days but I know one things for sure⦠the forest must be enchanted by the souls who passed in it.ā Callie replied back
āThat sounds fucking awesome Callie. Will you take me?ā Jake said with enthusiasm
āNo Jake I canāt take you to a haunted forest with ghosts who want to kill usā Callie said with a scoff.
āBut Callie-ā
āNo!ā
Jake just sat on the floor in her bed room as he sighed dramatically
āCome on this is so unfair you know I donāt have my license yet!ā
Well Iām NKT the one who skipped a grade. I also didnāt drop out of school for a year.ā
āThatās not fair Cal.ā
āWhatever. All I know is Iām never going back.ā
Jake decided to stay over at Callieās rhat night they ordered pizza and had a great time together like they always did. At around 2:38 in the morning Callie heard scrapping noises against her window, she woke up instantly and turned to her window where she was the old man scrapping at the window with his dagger.
