In this dystopian world, everyone is so obsessed with anti-aging that they consume crystals. Returning from a exploration, Captain Marcus Thinble brought back a cluster of large, deep red crystals. These crystals seemed to be like a miracle, the once aging captain was now rejuvenated with life, making him seem like a fresh recuit.

Scientists were curious to see how this could happen, so they immediately whisked the captain to take him to do studies. The crystals kept coming back up into discussions, the way that when they were eaten they would melt in your mouth, the way they tasted like fruits.

The scientists studied it even further, but the head of the country found out about the crystals' properties, immediately pushing them to be released to the public. When they were released, they became a new hot luxury item, the Thimble Crystals, lovingly named after Marcus.

A month passed by, the Thimble Crystals sweeping the nation. Different flavors, ones made for kids and teens, knockoffs... They were all being produced. Although, with this mass production, the scientists were still conducting their studies. When they finished, shock and alarm went through the laboratory.

Scrambling, they sent a young man to go to the emergency broadcast system, sending out a message, a plea, "DO NOT EAT THE CRYSTALS! THEY WILL CONSUME YOU-!" Before silence.

The laboratory was now covered in blood and crystals, as Marcus was free from his restraints, crystals overtaking his body. He looked at the young man, before letting out a nearly feral scream, pouncing on him.

The Marcrystal, what they were now being called, another tribute to Marcus, let out a roar, calling the others to him. The cry called the other Marcrystals to him, and they all began to make the laboratory their home.

Eating the crystals, still chasing after their vanity in their haze.
