STORY STARTER

Write about a meet-cute that goes well for your protagonist.

A meet-cute is an amusing or charming first encounter between characters which typically leads to a romantic relationship.

How It Should Have Been

Noor walked into the storage room. She was sent there by Miss Daska to get something but she really couldn’t remember.

Ayan, who’s in the classroom, noticed that she’d been gone for a while so he asked to go to the toilet.

Miss Daska waved him off dismissively, "Yeah, yeah. Hurry up though."

Ayan nodded and rushed out the classroom. He went over to the storage room. "Noor?" he called out.

"Hm?" Noor turned around. "Oh. Hey, Ayan. What are you doing here?"

Noor and Ayan had yet to have a single conversation with each other despite going to the same school for four years. This was somehow the first time they ever interacted.

"What are you _still_ doing here?" Ayan entered the room, shutting the door behind him before he leaned against it with crossed arms.

Noor looked around the relatively small room that’s filled with many things — textbooks, notebooks, boxes of glue sticks, paper, and more; despite everything there, she could not remember what it was.

She frowned. "I cannot remember what I came in for."

Ayan laughed. "Seriously?"

She glared at him. "Shut up."

"Sorry, sorry," he stood up straighter with a grin. "You came in for three red maths books, remember?"

He grabbed a packet of red books and ripped it open and took out three books for her.

Noor watched, leaning against a blue-grey metal shelf. "How come you came?" she asked with a tilted head.

Ayan shrugged. "I saw you were taking a while."

Noor nodded, not bothering to ask anymore questions.

They both left the room and headed back to the classroom. They both talked for a bit, they both laughed and shared some jokes. Before they knew it, they ended up back in their year 5 classroom.

They both sat at opposite sides of the classrooms.

Noor sighed softly.

Ayan glanced at her.

He came up with an idea. He whispered in his friend’s ear, Hassan, and Hassan grinned.

The two boys misbehaved the whole lesson.

Next day, Noor walks into class and sees him sat next to her spot. Noor smiled at the sight but she was confused.

Her teacher called her over to her desk.

She bent down so she could hear her Miss Daska’s hushed words. "I sat Ayan next to you because I know you will be a good influence on him. He needs it."

Noor smiled and nodded.

She’s sitting next to Ayan.

That’s how it should have been. Unfortunately, the glass isn’t always half full.

This, is what _really_ happened:

"You came in for ten purple history books for next lesson, remember?" he lied.

He knew that Noor is seen as the golden student. Never does no wrong. He wanted to see what would happen to see if she did do something wrong. Ayan also knew that she gets embarrassed really easily so he wanted to see that.

He grabbed a packet of purple books.

Noor watched, leaning against a blue-grey metal shelf. "How come you came?" she asked with a tilted head.

Ayan shrugged. "I saw you were taking a while."

Noor nodded, not bothering to ask anymore questions.

They both left the room and headed back to the classroom silently — awkwardly.

She handed the packet to the teacher and her teacher gave her a confused. "Uh.. What’s this?"

Noor could already feel her cheeks warm up and her breathing become more laboured. "Uh.."

"I asked for three maths books. Not ten history books."

The whole class watched in silence.

Noor looked down at the ground. "Sorry, Miss."

The teacher sighed softly and dismissed her.

They both sat at opposite sides of the classrooms.

Noor sighed softly. She glared at him.

Ayan glanced at her, smirking. That was hillarious, he thought.

As the lesson progressed, him and his best friend, Hassan, misbehaved the whole lesson.

Next day, Noor walks into class and sees him sat next to her spot with an annoyed look on his face.

Her eyes widened. There is no way, she thought.

Her teacher called her over to her desk.

She bent down so she could hear her Miss Daska’s hushed words. "I sat Ayan next to you because I know you will be a good influence on him. He needs it."

Noor smile and nodded. She wasn’t one to protest.

She’s sitting next to Ayan.

(Lmao should I make this canon to my manuscript?)
