Clock keeps ticking

We all are waiting

For the inevitable,

Though our minds know,

But our hearts still

Not able to accept,

Not able to

Say our final goodbyes

To the woman

Who has been a constant

Fixture in our lives.

We watch her shallow breathing,

Her once expressive eyes closed,

An angelic smile on her face,

Her soul trying to leave

Her fragile earthly body.

We are all gathered

With tears in our eyes

Trying to imagine

Our lives without her in it;

As if to say “it’s time”

We see her breathing

Getting slower

Until we see no more.

Finally, our loving Grandmother

Is gone to her Internal Home

To be with the Angels.
