How do the twins' rejection by society shape their motivations and worldview?

Consider their social and emotional development

The Division

Arlen got less attention than raylen. At around puberty is when most kids start to pigment. This process, like the changes of puberty can be painful, distressing and confusing for the prepubescent and prepigmented. Which it surprised and perturbed Arlen and Raylan‘s mother when they started pigmenting at the age of just 6 1/2 this was very early, especially for those of their race. Eema was torn between pride and concern and Abba I was conflicted between emotions of fear and discomfort. It was odd enough that he had a part play in making a set of twins, but now they were abnormally early bloomers. This caused a conflicts and aliances between practically everyone in the family. One of them being her fathers disappearance. Abba, soon after he realized that one of his offspring was bicolored he disappeared, no one knows where to or why but Arlen has some strong theories. Another family dynamic that complicates things is Raylen and her mom Eehmah. They have a minor connection tainted by betrayal. This is because for a few months after Arlen multicolored status was revealed raylen showed little to no pigmentation, leading her mom to cling to the false hope that one of her identical twins would be spared the social suiside that was being bicolored. In the months that went by, raylen got more love, attention and care from her mom than Arlen did, by a long shot. Despite her attempts to keep herself grounded this treatment led to a subconscious feeling of superiority.
