Write a difficult conversation between two characters without using any dialogue tags.
Dialogue tags describe the speech - 'he whispered', 'she murmered', 'they said' etc. Removing these indicators will encourage you to make the dialogue speak for itself, instead of relying on tags to describe and clarify the intent behind the words.
Tuesday
“What do you want to do?” The voice travels through silence. Every inch of empty space has been filled up with its weight. My body sinks into his as he sits next to me in the bed, gripping my hand.
“I don’t know.” My shoulders rolled forward while my eye are locked on the view outside the window.
“Hey, we’ll get through this, okay?” I break my gaze, meeting his. He has such a precious smile. I like his smile. My eyes wander over the pregnancy test on the bed.
“We always do…” But this time, I’m not sure I believe myself.
