POEM STARTER
Write an elegy about the death of something other than a person.
An elegy is a sad poem, traditionally expressing sorrow for someone who has passed away.
Memories To Ashes
Liberty felt free
free as the wind
she stayed true to herself.
An overachiever I might add
always knew what she wanted,
and how to obtain it.
She never stopped chasing her
dreams even if it meant going the full mile.
Loved by all, but never
forgotten. We held onto
hope like a Cherokee Rose.
Full of laughter and joy
the kind of joy that
leaves a person feeling
like there is more to life than
living through clear waters.
Except what happens when
all that joy and laughter comes
to an end?
The person that
you once held so dear inside
your arms have been stripped
away from your life. A flame
that burns the memories.
But leaves your heart in a
painful mess because
all that’s left is ashes.
