POEM STARTER
Submitted by TheQuillPen
Write a poem about giving up.
It doesn’t have to be negative, it can be about giving up something or someone that’s been holding you back.
“The Storm That Made Me Strong”
I don’t hate you.
You were the storm
that washed away the weak version of me.
See, I gave you love with no limits,
time with no return,
and patience I couldn’t afford to burn.
You said, “One day it’ll be us,”
but “one day” never came.
And every time I asked for truth,
you made me feel like I was the pain.
So I learned to talk softer,
to need less,
to play peacekeeper in my own stress.
I dimmed my light
just to keep your shadow close.
But tell me what’s love
if I gotta lose myself to feel it most?
Then you chose somebody else.
And yeah, that shattered me.
But every broken piece
found its way back stronger.
That heartbreak built the woman
I was meant to be.
Now I love louder.
Walk taller.
Move with peace that don’t borrow or beg.
You were the test
that taught me my worth.
The storm that cleared my sky.
So no, I don’t hate you.
You were just the rain
that helped me rise.
