POEM STARTER

Awakening

Write a poem about an awakening - it could be literal or metaphorical.

Daylight's Last Whisper

Unlight shines into

the crevices of my eyes.

Doth daylight's whisper—

morning’s slight nudge?

The day’s bellowing yawn,

the earth’s achy cough.

Death and destruction,

the dirt rough and tough.

A mountain blows its nose,

flames flying above.

An ethereal light shines—

the whimper of a dove.

The world is tired,

and yet it’s forced awake.

People push it around,

sealing their fate.
