The Scars on Our Hearts

Write a poem which could have this as the title.

The Key to the Human Heart

Endless corridors lead to endless doors, and endless doors lead to endless rooms.

In every room, an impossibly rich Treasure awaits, as vast as space itself and as priceless as the stars; each one is a snowflake—found once, never twice.

The Treasure is special—and that is why many Intruders will venture down the boundless corridors and search room by room for them. However, more often than not, the Intruders fail in their quest to gain their ultimate prize.

The Treasure they seek is not so easy to grasp, for as unique as they are, so too are they fragile. That is why every Treasure is kept behind a Door. A Door is impenetrable, insurmountable, immovable. They are shields and barricades; they aim to keep away all Intruders, so the Treasures may never be damaged nor stolen.

Force is futile in the face of these protectors, but at the same time, these protectors are not foolproof—they are not perfect. Although they can never be forced to open, sometimes, they may open on their own. And sometimes, it can be unfortunate, for the ones they let in can simultaneously be the ones they sought to keep out.

Nonetheless, if an Intruder does manage to fool the doors, instead of the Treasure they quest for, they will be met with the room's second line of defense, because more abundant than the Treasure is the Clutter.

The Clutter is mundane and unceasing, and it obscures all. Piles and piles of the Clutter build up in the rooms as each second, each minute, each hour, and each day passes. Nevertheless, as unassuming and unsubstantial as the Clutter maybseem, if the Intruder's luck and persistence is equally robust, they may find the special Treasure of the room beneath the piles of Clutter.

But even with the Treasure in hand, the Intruder must be able to step foot outside the room to truly savor their prize, and that means surviving the Secret, the deepest and darkest guardian of the room.

Sequestered in the corners of each room alongside the Clutter and Treasure, the Secret aims to prevent all escape. The Intruder must take extra caution when entering a room due to the existence of this being that seeks to trap all Intruders in its inescapable maw.

Even if a miracle were to occur, and an Intruder were to set foot beyond the threshold with their life intact, true escape is impossible so long as they witness the interior of the room.

Intruders enter all the time; never do they escape.

The labyrinth of corridors that lies beyond the room forbids it.

But this Key is the fateful string.

The Key only opens its pages to one being and one being only—the Seeker.

So, to the Seeker who is reading this, heed the words of the Key, and there is no doubt—you will succeed in your endeavors. It will be treacherous, for your room will do everything it can to prevent your success, but do not forget that—

[The last page of the Key is ripped out.]
