POEM STARTER
My grandmother always told me…
Write a poem which begins with this line.
Change
My grandmother always told me
The only constant in life is change
As a young child
I found this concept rather strange
Plenty of things were constant
But as a child, your world is so small
As I grew into adulthood
I found the world is truly not small at all
There are few things you can rely on
At times, not even yourself
But if one thing is certain
It’s that change cannot be left on the shelf
In a life full of pain, loss, and sorrow
We may feel stuck, unable to move
But there will always be another tomorrow
We can stay in place, or march forward with the rest
The world will not wait for us to make a choice
Life is not a practice test
Embrace the change, or stay the same
It’s up to you in the end
You’ll look back one day and see who you stayed
Or who you became.
