POEM STARTER

Submitted by Margaret Sok

'The stars smiled upon us, as if they knew we’d soon join them'…

Compose a poem that opens with this line.

Meteor Shower

The star smiled up upon me as if they knew I’d join them

Much past midnight, I sat Lotus style on the outcropping, a smooth spot I had found

I breathe in the crisp night air and exhale slowly the profound peace in developing my curious soul

They fell swiftly and in abundance, my ancestors the stars

Flowing so brilliantly against the deep black abyss

I lean back to recline and open fully to this ancient light show

And with each falling star

I sense freedom

I sense time passing

I sent impermanence

Most of all, I see beauty

And endless possibilities

In time I will descend brightly

Enjoy this celestial dance

And in that brief moment

I hope I touch another soul

And leave them with a smile ✌️
