Write a poem about a bird who was once human.
Even now, it remembers what it was like to have hands, to touch, to hold, and to feel. Now wings beat where arms once moved, but the memories never fade.
Caged
I try to forget,
The life I once had
The memories are strong,
And the roots, they are deep.
The people I knew,
Who I loved,
Who I cared for,
Who knew the person I was.
How I wish,
I could see
Even the ones
Who hurt me.
The places I’d been,
The ones that I loved,
And the places that scared me
To be
For the time
Moves too slowly,
And everything I have known
Is now dust
Memories painful,
I was trapped,
I was caged,
I wasn’t living the life meant for me.
But now, at least I am free.
