The Burden of Memory
Write a poem that could have this as its title.
The Burden Of Memory
It’s simplicity
The minuscule things
Bouncing around through the years
Begging you to be that
Which you aren’t anymore
That which they won’t let you be
Shackles tied and bound
Invisible to the naked eye but there around
Choaking the life and creativity away
Hanging you slowly
Its simplicity
A tale of bad choices and hard roads
Choices where it was do or die
Ohhh how the later would’ve surficed
More chains added to walk
Stumbling up hill
Gravity pulling on the metal balls called mistakes
They get bigger and bigger as you drag them forward
Seemingly molding you to the dark hill
A path not forgotten but hardly walked
Its simplicity
The haunting light no longer graces your eyes
It only unveils the lies
I hear the sound of the others damed
Yet I don’t cry out with them
I hear them blame everything else
I don’t blame anyone but myself
If you don’t choose a path life will pick one
There’s no time to waste and opportunities easily cascade away
This is the burden of memory, regret
