Glass Bones And Paper Skin

**Prompt: Use the metaphor of glass bones and paper skin to describe vulnerability. Shape the poem around someone who navigates the world with intense fragility, yet still manages to stand tall.**
With glass bones
And paper skin,
I push through
Thick and thin.
I shatter
Quite easily,
Fragile like glass,
Through hard times
I’m not sure I’ll pass.
If you push me
Off the edge,
Down to the ground below,
I’ll break
Into a million shining pieces,
Like a shattered mirror.
__
_Shatter,_
_Fracture,_
_Break…_
When I fall,
I break
Like my bones are glass.
That’s why
I try
To limit my setbacks,
My falls,
I just want to
Stand tall.
_It’s hard to_
_Navigate this world_
_With glass bones _
_And paper skin…_
You could easily
Tear me apart
Like a piece of paper,
Shred me up
In a fit of rage.
_Fragile,_
_That’s just how I am._
__
_But…_
_Fragility doesn’t mean_
_Weakness._
__
_I am in no way_
_Weak._
For isn’t it harder to
Navigate this world
When you could be
So easily torn down?
For doesn’t it take more strength to
Have a fragile heart
And not ever break it?
It takes strength
To stand tall when you’re stuck
With glass bones
And paper skin.
