POEM STARTER

Write a Petrarchan Sonnet on the theme of Autumn.

A Petrarchan Sonnet has 14 lines; the first 8 must have a rhyme scheme ABBAABBA, the last 6 can have variable rhymes, but are normally split into 2 sets of 3 lines.

The Fall of Autumn

Leaves fall crisply to the ground

And the winds bring in a cold

The same as how it was of old

The trees, they whisper, all around

Listening to the mighty sound,

Of the critters, all so bold

Gathering their feast of gold

Before none will be found

Slowly, falling, to the ground

Oh, so cold

No one’s around

How the trees, they are so old

Every year they go around

All while glistening in gold
