Write a story where people are limited to only three lies in their lifetime.
Is your protagonist about to use up their first, or maybe their last?
Before The Final Showdown
The moment I was on my last life, I had realized that I was going to have to be ruthless in the final showdown. In this game, everyone has three lives and each player starts with a handgun.
Five hours in. I’m out of breath and 49 of the 60 contestants had been eliminated and right now I have to focus on staying on my second life so I can stand some ground in the upcoming ten player showdown. Stay silent and let the others pick each other off. Solid game plan so far. I’ve been only been caught twice, harrowingly avoiding the first time and getting killed the second.
After my first death, I found a concrete fort (which was separated from where most of the action) to camp in. I was armed and scouting from the top until I heard a hurried footstep coming from side of the building.
“Come on! come on!” A group of two guys walked in. Of course… a group. (I hadn’t even had a group since I didn’t have many connections). Even so… this was momentually bad for me.
If they find me, I’ll be down one life.
I take my gun and book down the stairs as quickly as possible. A sharp rattle. Door’s locked.
“Someone here!?”
Dammit! Should of checked the exit! I turn behind me and shoot down one guy (BANG) and just as effortlessly quick, another BANG. Down my second life. I open my eyes to the starting field and try not to curse myself as I hear a bell ringing for the showdown.
“Right on time…” I mutter angrily to myself.
