WRITING OBSTACLE

Write a 100-word description of your main character's physical appearance.

Consider which features are most important to mention; which might factor into the story, or change the way the reader, and other characters, interact with your protagonist?

Elodie

Elodie belongs to a dying race, the Nephalem, who are on the verge of extinction. Nephalem are born from the forbidden union of angels and demons. The few who still live conceal themselves among the mortals in order to evade capture by Xannons minion army.

Unfortunately, all Nephalem have strong tells whenever their emotions are pushed too far. Once their mood is overwhelmingly intense, their eyes glow an iridescent violet and they cry tears of blood. No matter if they’re tears of joy, anger or sadness. They run red just the same. A trait believed to be a curse upon the child birthed resulting from such a horrific union. Aside from bloody eyes, their skin produces a light golden sheer glow. Luckily only noticeable to demons and angels alike.

Elodie is a Nephalem hiding in plain sight in the demon kings realm, Rivian. She walks among humans unnoticed every day thanks to her ability to conceal her appearance. She stood at 5’7”. Translucent ivory skin and soft waves of chestnut brown hair that cascaded down to her waist. Her oval-round face housed a piercing gaze of striking emerald green with flecks of gold, that could leave nothing but ash in its wake. Her furrowed brows were a clear sign. She was not to be messed with. A light dusting of freckles speckled her nose and naturally rosy cheeks. Her lips were full and soft, with a deep rose hue that contrasted with her ivory skin. If looks could kill, she’d be an assassin.

She wore an oversized white billowy shirt, a deep maroon cloak with a hood, jet-black leather trousers and her trusty black leather combat style boots. She always carried a dark brown leather satchel that contained all the necessities. Plus a dagger she had carefully sheathed at her thigh.

She only hid her appearance whenever she had to leave her home. Not that she got to live luxuriously, but at least she wasn’t having to fend for herself on the streets. It was also her safe haven. The only place she could relax and take time to herself amidst the chaos going on around her.

In all her 94 years of existence, though she hasn’t aged a day physically since 25, this is the only place she felt finally at home. Living right under King Xannons nose undetected. And she planned to keep it that way.
