I wrote four messages

Each true to a point that hurt

A confession and cry for help

Each to someone I loved

I wrote four messages

They were how I really felt

A turning point where it started getting better

Each to someone who could help

Each of these people were my friends

They had trusted me

They had counted on me

So surely it was my turn?

But I wrote four messages

And I deleted each one

Because where there is light

There is always a shadow close behind
