Your protagonist is at an arcade late at night. When they decide to go home, they turn around to see that every single game in the arcade says ‘game over’ in flashing red letters...

Write a thriller story beginning with this premise.

GAME OVER

My heart thudded within my chest. My blood ran cold. I breathed heavily. “ SELENA? ALAINA?” I stuttered, where had my friends gone? “ THIS ISN’T FUNNY! I KNOW YOU’RE HIDING! Y - you are hiding r - right? “ My lip quivered as I spoke. Let’s start from the beginning.

It was an ordinary Friday night, and my friends and I were going out to the arcade like we did every week. Nothing strange about that right? That’s what thought too.

I met them at the end of my street and we headed off. We arrived and the lights were flashing multiple colours. We shot confused looks at one another, what was going on? I cast a weary looks around the place, no one was there. “ Um - you guys … “ I turned too look at them.

WAIT! WHERE WERE THEY? I panicked.

That’s when I heard it. A growl. A low menacing growl. I looked to where I could hear it and there it was …

Surrounded by multiple games…

All of them flashing GAME OVER in blood red.

I backed away, feeling for the door, I slowly opened it and closed it behind me. I tugged the hairpin that kept my long, curly chestnut locks with streaks of blonde up in a messy bun. My hair cascaded to my waist.

I whipped out my phone and dialled the emergency number my hands shaking.

Suddenly there was a BANG! Followed by another than another. I didn’t dare look back as I practically flew back along the streets to my house where I knew I was safe. At last. Or so I thought. My screams would forever haunt those halls…
