POEM STARTER
Compose a poem which contrasts the world of dreams with the harshness of reality.
You can choose any style that you think is appropriate.
Realistic Reality
Dreaming of
Flawless skin – unscarred by time,
Eyes mirror the endless sky.
Tragedy? here but no pain.
Pain hurts and scars and ruins, yet
It has to be realistic.
Dreaming of
Hair like silken light, shining,
Euphonious voice; also
She weeps but don’t worry so–
It is all for show because
It has to be realistic.
Anyway
Dreaming of
Hands that heal – “thank you,” they cry.
Feet that dance on paths of light.
All dreams are possible, but
It will take time. after all,
It has to be realistic.
Dreaming of
Perfect form, slender body.
Each breath a hymn of grace; see–
Her heart’s a vessel of pure
Light that shines through kind deeds.
Who said it has to be realistic?
Anyway,
Her eyes shine with wisdom and
Her voice brings peace to beggars
And kings alike. so she
Strolls in fields of gold – happy
Laughter echoing like the
Sweetest melody: a beacon
Of endless joy for all to see!
Isn’t it so realistic?
She’s praised; devoid of envy.
Perfect everything and no
Flaw saved for her utter
Perfection – her singular
Struggle in her world of my
Creation, which whispers hopeful
Lies. lies that say that maybe…
Dreams could be realistic.
My dreams are dissipating,
Fading – a desert’s mirage.
No! Let me be a goddess.
My heart’s an endless ocean
Of love; it’s being squandered
On this dumb world where nothing
Is realistic.
