Write a story, poem, or paragraph, personifying a creaky floorboard in an old house.
Remember this doesn't mean you have to write from its perspective, but give it human characteristics.
Loose Nail
That loose nail. Gently over the years, each step pulled it up slightly, imperceptibly until it began to grate against the wood.
The creaking which resulted gave the room a personality. Every time a step fell on that one board, the nail creaked against the wood to let them know it was still there.
The wood saw many generations of feet walk across it as well as a few knees as it remained silent when babies began to crawl. Don’t want to frighten them. The babies inevitably grew up into children; it began to squeak once again to remind them.
