STORY STARTER
That old lady always wears a red scarflette around her wrist, today we found out why…
Red Past
I looked out at the gloomy horizon, so dull and depressing, until my eye spotted a bright red scarf wrapped around, so vibrant and awakening. I looked back at the rest of the cafe, only thing awakening was the smell of coffee, everybody was dressed in black and grey, such colors as bright red is not quite popular in the modern time. I looked back at the window, again, zoned out by the draining colors, until, the red scarf appeared again. I glanced up, as it was an old woman on a cane, smiling happily in such a frowning world. Somehow, it was suprising to me to see such a joy in a person, slowly getting up, still staring at the woman, the table tilted and the coffee spilled all over my pants, making an embarrassing moment. Eyes of black and brown all gazed apon me, as I stood with paleness instead of red across my face. Without notice, the old lady walked in, now all eyes on her, and approached me, lending towels she found at the reception, I greeted her with a warm smile, and let the towels soak out the burning coffee. As I was done, I finally thanked the lady and walked towards the enterance, where curiosity struck me. **_
_***Why that color? Why that red scarf?*
“Ma’am.”**_
_**I called over.
“Yes darling?”
She replied with a soft voice.
“The red scarf, the color, the vibrancy, what made you want to wear such a scarf, or why did you wear it in a world such of colors of dullness?”
She smiled, looked in my eyes and said:
“This scarf, is not an ordinary scarf, it’s not something you would snatch over your closet and swing it over, it’s special.”
I felt a laugh forming in my throat, what could be so special about a red scarf?
“And what’s so special?”
She slowly blinked, then said:
“Love. My Love. My dead husband handed me this scarf, said that my energy matched it, gave me it a day before he rested in his grave.”
I pulled back my eyelids, guilty of how I felt.
“I’m sorry for your loss.”
“Find someone who you love darling.”
I smiled and nodded.
“Thank you.”
“For what?” She replied.
“For restoring my faith in love.”
