Chapter 3
Star shaped scar pt 3
"Wait... So you've been tracking me down because you've had dreams about me? And you knew about Rhode Island?" The boy, who had introduced himself as Ryan, questioned the other boy.
"Yup. That's pretty much it. Where are we going?" they were now walking together, though Tyler, the other boy, didn't know where exactly they were headed.
"My job. I work at a coffee shop. It's only a few more minutes away."
"Are you okay with the dream thing? I want you to know, I wasn't trying to peek into your life. It kinda just happened."
"I know. I guess now that you know a bit, there's no points in keeping secrets. My mom and dad wanted to move from Maine, but my mom wanted to live in Rhode Island, because of my grandmother. And my Dad wanted to live in New York. After a lot of fighting, they finally agreed to visit my grandma, but not live with her. But the night we got there, my dad got me in the car, and convinced me my mom would come later. She didn't. You probably saw the part when I got in the car, am I right? "
Tyler didn't have anything to say to this. He didn't know how to make him feel better. It may have been to long ago. Still, Tyler embraced the somber boy with pity.
Ryan was surprised by the hug. As if it was foreign to him.
Finally, they arrived at the coffee shop where Ryan worked. They agreed that Tyler would sit at one of the tables in the corners until Ryan could find someone to take over his shift for a bit.
Tyler sat for about thirty minutes, tracing the scars on his arm and thigh. He looked up for a bit to see if Ryan was coming. He was talking to another girl who worked there. Though the coffee shop was quiet, Tyler still had to listen closely if he wanted to hear what they were saying.
"Hey, can you cover my shift, so I can talk to him?"
"Yeah, no problem!" the girl spoke slightly louder
"Thanks, babe." Ryan kissed the girl on the cheek and started walking over to Tyler. And for some reason, Tyler felt a sharp ache in his stomach.
