Words Are Hard To Say
FADE IN:
A lovely, small COFFEE SHOP sandwiched in between the bustle of city life. Inside we see two young adults enjoying their dessert.
CONNOR
This is a great place you picked, Vivian. I mean it’s wow.
CONNOR waves his arms around to express his delight. He looked around the tiny cafe. Clearly pleased by what he sees.
CONNOR
(louder)
Actually, it’s wonderful. Or-
His friend, VIVIAN, grabs at his arms. Pulling them down to the table. People were beginning to stare. She forced a smile towards the unwanted looks the customers were giving them. She thought he was too over the top sometimes. Especially compared to her introverted self. Just being around him put her on edge.
VIVIAN
(harsh whisper)
Gosh Connor. Can you stop, and keep the volume down? I didn’t know Jolie Pe- Pe
VIVIAN struggles to pronounce the name of the coffee shop. Her tongue is tied.
CONNOR
(smiles)
Oh no, Vivian. You mean, Jolie Petite Tasse de Café.
VIVIAN’S face begins to heat up. Her fingers curl. She pulls them to her chest. Her mouth twitches up.
VIVIAN
Uhm…
CONNOR
(laughs)
Don’t worry, Viv. I’ve been tongue tied a few times in my life as well.
VIVIAN
(quietly)
Yeah…
