Promitto Te Moriturum Esse.

I watched the world end.

I watched from the window as fire rained down from the sky.

The screams of our lowly souls fell silently upon the cosmos.

I felt the earth groaning from its depths as the mountains collapsed into the seas.

The brimstone hailed in horrific radiance, tearing open the heavens.

The harbinger of retribution, the promise of death.

The earth engulfed in ashes and dust, and I stood there under the stars and contemplated nothingness.

I took it in. There I wasn’t. All at once and not at all.

I was nowhere. The end had come, but I wasn’t ready.

I couldn’t see.
