WRITING OBSTACLE

Inspired by Samantha Roberts

Write a descriptive scene about a character feeling the sunlight on their face for the first time in a very long while.

Try to use as many senses as you can to capture this moment.

A Dragon’s Escape

From a hatching, I was kept in the place filled with tiny people with sharp teeth. Soon I went blind in this place, able to feel but not see. I was locked in the lower levels, chains around my neck and body. They dug into my skin, the chains, day and night, they were there. There was a noise , like rattling. After a while, I expected pain when I heard it. Little did I know this was all about to change.

I was sleeping. Then I heard footsteps. Two Littles and three bigs. I started to growl, jumping in and out threateningly, not being able to go far because of the chains. Then that noise played an echo against the walls Immediately, I shrunk back, scared. I don’t want to get hurt, and that’s what usually happened when that noise played. “Thats bombaric” I heard s lady say. About what, I didn’t know. their footsteps faded, and I laid my head down once again. Next thing I heard were the following of something metallic and footsteps. Many of them. Both bigs and little. They started shooting and yelling loudly. I hissed to some of their attacks hit me. Then I felt a big jump on my back. Followed by two more. One of them released my chain and I was free. I extended my wings and flew up. As fast and high as I could. At the top, I shattered the glass stones that down into the rooftops. It was there I felt it: the dazzling sunlight. I could not see, but I could feel. I felt so warm like a blanket covering my body yet I had full movement. I would remember this day for the rest of my life.
