STORY STARTER
Sylvaren and Nysera, new parents, have just lost their home and community. How do they cope with the loss?
Describe their emotions and concerns.
Eruption Of Emotions
“Ugh!—“ Sylvaren grunted in pain, rubbing his head as he sat up with deep struggle. He blinked momentarily before he seemed to regain his sight back, and looked up. The same light bump dangling off the ceiling had came off once more, it really was time to get someone to fix the lighting problem around here.
He shifted to the side of his bed, tossing the bump in the bin before glancing at his side— Nysera isn’t there. Where could she be?
He got up and strutted down the hallway of and into the living room, it was a mess. Blankets thrown onto the couch messily, the table mounted with empty soda cans, the kitchen full of dishes and wasted food. He glanced at the open balcony door and there she was, her long brown curly hair dancing with the wind, and her gown flowing along like the waves, she looked absolutely gorgeous.
He stood beside her and smiled, bumping his shoulder against hers. “Couldn’t sleep?”
She turned and smiled tiredly, leaning her head into his shoulder “yeah”
“You know you can’t keep going like this, hun” he pulled her into his arms, stroking her soft hair, and rest his head on top of hers, looking down at her figure “it’s not healthy”
She stayed quiet, dazing off into the blue, clear ocean. She seemed lost within it’s waves, like the seas tamed her consciousness and put her in a beautiful daze. “I just wish we could still be in land”
“Baby, that’s in the past now” he kissed the top of her head “we need to focus on now, not what used to be. On another note—what’s done is done, we can’t undo the curse”
“I know, I just..” she sighed, looking up at him “I miss the grass, trees, and dirt. I miss the cats, dogs, and mice, I miss.. everything.”
He sighed, turning her around with a grip on her shoulders, and slightly kneeling to make eye contact with her green eyes and his brown ones. “You need to stop stressing yourself out”
He suddenly grinned, leading her inside their apartment, and guiding her toward the couch. “I think I’ll brew you some green tea.”
She chuckled, settling down on the couch and hugging the blankets around her small figure “to what do I use this pleasure?”
“You say that like I treat you differently all the time” he joined in the chorus of their laughter and chuckles. Although it wasn’t loud and oh-so-energetic like Nysera’s ones in the morning, it seemed to lighten the mood for the both of them. “Plus, it’s good for the baby.”
He put on the kettle and flicked the switch on the side, the kettle immediately switched into a bright blue color from below, then, slowly started sending tiny bubbles of oxygen to the surface. He sat down beside her and pulled her close, playing a hand on her womb. “I think it’s gonna be a girl”
“Really?” She chuckled, cocking an eyebrow “what makes you say that”
“I guess it’s a dad feeling”
“I want a boy”
“I want a girl, so that she can look as pretty as you” he grinned and teasingly pinched her cheek, she giggled.
A sweet silence engulfed in the air, and Nysera’s eyes slowly shut, her breaths started to even out, turning into soft breaths. Sylvaren smiled, feeling slightly more at ease, and in peace. At least he didn’t have to worry about her again.
He joined her sweet dreams, slowly shutting his eyes and drifting into a comfy slumber, the sounds of a slight click of the boiled kettle drowned by their small, soft breaths, intertwined like Sylvaren’s big hand in Nysera’s small one.
