POEM STARTER
Loss
Write a poem, in any style, that focuses on the theme of loss.
Where We Are Lost
Once in a while
We are lost in the woods
Or in the jungle made of metal and concrete
Lost like a child
We’re neither evil nor good
We are innocent, shameless, but also incomplete
There is a place
Where the lost children go
But it’s hard to know where it can be found
In their eyes, their face
Haunted by grief, it will show
You have to look inside to see where it is bound
In a child’s heart
In a black memory, on a blue day
Where our love became loss, only grief was left
It was a false start
Now I must begin again, in a new way
Through bitter woods, broken city, lonesome, lost and bereft.
