She pries her eyes open, noticing that she is still in her bath. She gasps for air, realizing she’s been holding her breath. Unsure of what she just saw, she plunges her head under the warm bath water and pauses, listening to the submerged hum of the water.

She pulls her head out and stands up in the bath, exposing her skin to the icey air. She wraps herself in a bath towel and moves to her bathroom sink. She looks into the fogged mirror and sees the blurred vision of herself.

“What is this feeling?” she thinks as she presses her hand over her heart, feeling her heartbeat.

“Thump, thump, thump.”

“I’m alive, aren’t I? I’ve just got to be real.”

She looks away from the mirror and back at it again, barely seeing her reflection through the fog. She questions, “Who am I really?”

That thought echoes in her mind, embedding itself into her brain. She tries to snap herself out of it, grabs her toothbrush, and aggressively brushes her teeth. After some time, she pulls the toothbrush out of her mouth and rinses it off. She sees that there's blood on it—not realizing how hard she was really brushing her teeth. She swishes her mouth with the sink water, cleaning her mouth of both blood and leftover toothpaste.

She puts her toothbrush and toothpaste back and puts on her PJs—a white t-shirt and a pair of blue, airy pants. After that, she shuts off her lights and gets into bed.

The sun rises, and so does Eve. She gets dressed into her day clothes, grabs her luggage, and gets into the car. One of her father’s lab assistants drives her to the local orphanage. Once she arrives, she grabs her luggage and settles into her designated area.
