As the pair crossed the roaring river, they noticed a figure waiting for them on the other side.
The End
Jase breathed heavily beside me. His face shown a burning red and his eyes, deeply exhausted. The water was up to our ankles and its merky depths, frozen cold. The rocks on the base of the river pushed the water up, resulting in the waters singing.
Beside us, dense trees covered all view of the grass and the branches stretched over us, blocking the suns light and warmth. Our body’s where ice cold. Still as a hunting wolf. Silent as the night.
A thick layer of mist blanketed the snow and water. We where almost alone. It was almost over. We where almost alive, but we where also almost dead.
We where praying for the end to come. If it did not by the end of the night, we would be trapped inside these woods. We would be just another spirit that haunted the woods. We would be what we wheee afraid of. We would be the monsters.
I reached my hand out into the water and caught my reflection. My hair was a mess, my skin, whiter than the snow that was lightly falling. A deep red line stretched across my face due to the freezing tempruture. I closed my eyes and wispered, “if this is the end, I need you to know, I love you,” I said.
I lifted my head and saw a figure dance above the rushing water headed right for us and I knew I what it was. It was the end.
