STORY STARTER
Take your protagonist out of your story, as if they do not exist. What are the lives of the other characters like without them?
Do your other characters have adventures and stories without the protagonist, or are they simply in your story to fulfil an extra role? In what ways would their lives be different?
The Crew
Carol looked at the ship one last time as the person wanting to buy it came into veiw. It was still hard to believe after all these years she was going to sell it and give up ocean life. It just did not apeal to her anymore. There was no sense of adventure and her old crew had long given up on going back out to sea. She had thought about putting a new team together but the truth was without a reason to go out to sea she just was not committed to it.
“Morning are you Carol? I’m Lynn and I would love to buy your ship. It is a beautiful boat and it will work perfect for my needs.
Harry looked down at Nate’s lifeless body. The blood was still warm and the police had not yet arrived yet. Once again the two men had gotten into a fight but this time instead of storming off Harry had picked up a gun and shot Nate three times in the chest. They had been fighting more and more lately since Nate’s wife had left him. Now Harry would be taken to prison and Nate would be laid to rest. He could not believe this was happening.
Boris sat in the back of the police cruiser waiting for the officer to come back to the car. At the moment several cars were parked in front of his house. The ambulances had long ago left but the police were still trying to put togesther the full scope of the death that Boris had left on his block. His killing spree had started with his neighbor who had been playing his music too loud and ended when a passerby had called the police an hour later. Boris had managed to kill no less then ten people before the police finally arrived and subdued him.
Roger sat at home with his wife Gloria and watched the news. Tonight seemed to be a bloodier night than usual. Several people he knew was either dead or on there way to prison.
“The world had gone mad I tell you.” He said to his wife as the news went to commercial.
“Tell me about it, I’m just glad you never hit more involved with them or it could be you I’m seeing on the news Gloria said.
Junior stared up at the night sky. He would need to be at work in a few hours but at the moment he was still drinking and did not see his night ending any time soon. He wondered how his life could have gone differently. The thought did not last long as he sat up and finished his drink. He needed any other shot and headed back inside the bar.
