We Have To Tell Her
“Diamonds are beautiful, but they’re also strong—“
“So your going to get me one?” Olivia said, jumping to her feet in excitement.
“That’s not what I’m trying to say!” Her father explained, standing up with a sigh. “You’re just too young to understand.”
“Whatever,” She replied, walking up the stairs to her room.
The door shut, and her father fell back on the couch and cried. He didn’t cry very often, but something was different now.
From the kitchen, his wife came in and comforted him. “We have to tell her, Seth.” She said, as a tear rolled down her face.
Seth nodded his head, then shook it.
“I’m going to miss you so much.” They fell into each other’s arms, and cried harder.
Seth just wanted to be able to share his last bits of wisdom with his daughter before it was too late. The docter just called them a couple of days ago, with the news. Nothing has been the same, but Olivia was too selfish to understand.
But, soon she would change. Whenever he was on the bed saying his goodbyes, she would understand.
