Summer 2025, Lily, Ashton and their friends run to the river side. Lily is always the lone female within this group. A group of careless 10 year olds. Who had even less to care about now that school is out.

They approach the rivers edge and start to take their dirt stained clothes off. Ashton warns Lily not to take hers off and reminds her what dad told them the last time they went to the river.

Ashton jumps in. Lily is hesitant. She really wants to join in the fun. It’s a tough decision to make between jumping in with her clothes on and meet the wrath of her dad or jumping in without her clothes and meet the wrath of her dad.

Either action will end her in an unfavorable posture with her dad so she jumps in. With her clothes on. It is now a fun summer time experience. Everyone is laughing, splashing, diving and fishing stones from the bottom of the bank to skip across the flowing waters.

It’s time to head home. Lily is drenched leaving a spiral trail where she walks. Summer time 2025, the wind is blowing sweet. Too sweet. As they approach the house fear starts to settle in Lily’s stomach. Every once of excitement dissolves.

Mother is watching from the window and calls out to dad. Telling him to come see the preying audience watching their child as she travels her path back to the house.

Dad looks out the window, shakes his head and says “I told you, once the flowers bloom, we’ll be doomed”.
